Family Blast Events

Family Blast events are held 4 to 5 times per year either on the grounds of First Free or at various locations throughout Rockford. Here are some of the things we have done . . .

  • Parents Night Out
Parents sign up to drop off the kids in our Children's area on a scheduled Wednesday evening typically in December. It's fun, free, and purposeful childcare for ages babies to 6th grade. For the kids, it's a fun-filled night of great snacks, playtime, Christmas crafts, story time, movie time, and activities in the gym. This is provided by wonderful volunteers who love to work with kids. For the parents, it's a time to be alone and enjoy one another's company or even finish up that last-minute Christmas shopping.

  • Trunk or Treat
This is an alternative to trick or treating. The Rockford community comes out in droves. More than 2,000 pieces of candy are given out by our many volunteers who decorate the trunks of their cars and provide the most important part of the night...CANDY!

Candy isn't the only thing provided that evening, there are inflatables for the kids to enjoy, line dancing for the youth, hot chocolate, hot cider, and dinner. Who knows what will happen in years to come!

It doesn't end there - each family who attends is provided with a connection card about the various ministries offered at First Free. There is follow up for those who have requested continual information about First Free.

  • Movie Night Outside at Summerwood
Enjoy a family-friendly movie under the stars outside at our very own Summerwood Amphitheater.

  • Family Ice Skating, Bowling, and Swim Events
Join us for various trips to local venues for ice skating, bowling, and/or swimming throughout the year.

  • Day Trips to Brewers Games
Join us and take the family out to a ball game to see the Milwaukee Brewers!

All of these types of events are offered throughout the year, so keep in close contact as further information comes available for upcoming Family Blast Events!
