Caterpillar Room: 6-12 months

Text Box: Pictured: Sarah and Cindy
We are having a fantastic year in the Caterpillar Room! All of our sweet little ones have adjusted beautifully to being with us for a few hours a week. In the beginning of the year, both parents and baby were a bit worried and cautious about how this was going to work. Now, our sweet little ones are running into our classroom (as well as our hearts!) to enjoy a few hours of playtime. Our goal and hope is that parents are able to enjoy a few hours of errands knowing that their child is being well cared for in a Christian environment.

As our babies grow, we are thrilled to be a part of so many milestones that make up the first two years. First crawl, first steps, first teeth
(ouch), and first words. It never ceases to be anything less than a miracle as we watch each baby grow during this important time in their young lives.

The communication between parents and teachers are what makes this class so special. Getting to know each family is always such a treat. We have such a hard time watching our little ones move to the Butterfly class but we know that they are ready for the "big kid" rooms. Our parents have been fantastic with all the "housekeeping" details that help make our room flow smoothly. Labeling all items and bringing "tiny hand" appropriate lunches and snacks have been so helpful.

We are looking forward to being able to add more activities in our class as they continue to grow. Small and large motor skill games as well as a few simple crafts. Spending a portion of our day in the Butterfly Room is also a fun and new adventure for our budding toddlers.

In Christ’s Love, Cindy and Sarah

Just a few things we would like you to do for us before you come to MDO:

1.   Please label ALL of your child's belongings. This includes bottles, cups, spoons, pacifiers, lunch containers, blankets, and anything you would not want to lose.

2.   Please bring as much finger food as possible for your youngster’s lunch. We know that many of your children are still eating baby food, and we are happy to feed them at lunch, but for those of you who have entered into the world of finger food, we would really appreciate it. This makes lunch time much happier for all of us.

3.   If your child has a special toy, blanket or pacifier, please bring it so that they will feel more at home. We have many toys, but a familiar one is sometimes best.

4.   We will be asking all parents to fill out a sheet to give us a little bit of an idea of your child’s morning routine. This will take some of the guess work out of our job. We can’t promise that naps and feedings will occur at exact times, but we can do our best to be in the right ballpark for what your child is used to.

5.   And again, please label EVERYTHING!
