Happy Hippo Room:
1-1/2 - 2 year olds
|
Hi! My name is Beth Larson and I'm the coordinator
for the Happy Hippos room. Both of my kids have been in the Mom's Day Out
program and I was so excited about what they were doing, I decided to join
the staff. This will be my 3rd year on staff for Mom's Day Out. I will be
working with Tracy Hefty and Charise Covington. We are so excited about
getting to know all the children as well as the parents.
Each day of Mom's Day Out, please bring 2 diapers with your child's name
on them, a cup with juice or water (labeled), and a spare set of clothes
(top, bottom and socks: all labeled). If you would like to put some old or
less favorite clothes in a Ziploc that we keep all year so that you don't
have to bring it each day, you may. On some days we may do messy projects,
so I suggest sending your children in play clothes. Also, on some days, we
may play outside or go to the gym, so choose shoes that fit those
activities. Each morning please put the 2 diapers and the cup on the
counter and the lunches on the table just inside the door of the room.
Coats and bags can go in your child's cubby right out in the hallway. |

Other fun activities: Play-doh, painting, parachute, musical
instruments, blocks and many more.
We can't believe it's 2008! The kids
have grown up so much since they started in the Happy Hippos in September.
All the children now sit at the table very patiently for crafts as
well as for snack and lunchtime. They all sit so nicely for circle time on
the rug. The children love storytime, some of our favorite stories are
Brown Bear Brown Bear, Bless Everyone, and Ten Little
Ladybugs. Almost all of the kids do the motions along with our
favorite songs The Wheels on the Bus, If Your Happy and you Know
It, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. All of the kids enjoy our walk we
take before lunchtime and they do so well staying in line and holding onto
our rope.
The children play so well together and
have made so many new friends. We love to see them greet each other by
name in the morning and say goodbye to their friends as they leave at the
end of the day. We had to say goodbye to Jack F. before Christmas vacation
as his family made a temporary move for a few months - we hope to see him
back in March or April. In January we welcomed Luke, Joseph A., Simona,
and Parker to the Happy Hippos room.
Some of the children have started
potty training. We are more than happy to help in the potty training
process. If your child is wearing pull-ups, please remember not to dress
them in too many layers as this makes it more difficult to change if they
do have an accident, the pull-ups with re-sealable sides work great!
It's going to be a great year and full
of many blessings!
Beth, Charise, and Tracy
