Courageous Chimps Room: 2 to 2-1/2 year olds

Amie Andre, Head Teacher
Debbie Nelson and Lisa Cradic, Assistant Teachers

In the Chimps Room, we strive to provide a warm, supportive beginning to your child's social interaction and skill development. Our curriculum is based on the active learning philosophy . . .and, boy, are we active! Each day, your child will participate in activities that encourage development of early language, pre-academics, and morals/spiritual values through play, crafts, games, music, stories, and more.

The following is an estimated daily schedule for the Chimps Room.  This schedule remains flexible to accommodate the children’s development and our individual lessons/special activities.

*All diapers are checked twice & changed at least once each day.

Back Pack/School Bag:

Upon arrival, please place the backpack with the extra clothing in your child’s cubby outside the classroom. Bring to the counter your child’s sippy cup, lunch box, 2 diapers/pull-ups (as appropriate for your child) and folder.

Please make sure to label all of your child’s items (including diapers and cups). A permanent, black Sharpie marker works best. You’ll need to periodically check your items to ensure the labeling has not worn off.

Potty-Training Note:

At this age, most children will be potty-training at some level.  Please keep us informed of your child’s “potty progress” so that we can be consistent with what he or she is doing at home. Please dress your child in “potty-friendly” clothing. Make sure you include the extra clothing in your child’s backpack each day. We will use the Ziploc bag you send the clothing in to return to you the wet/soiled clothing. The backpack with the clothing should be stored in your child’s cubby outside the classroom. Please remember to take all of your child’s belongings home with you each day.

Lunch Update:

You may choose to send 1-2 beverages with your child. We distribute the sippy cups at snack time and then redistribute them at lunch. A separate beverage in the lunch box is not necessary, but you may pack one if you wish. Only sippy cups may be used throughout the day. Your child may have a drink when he/she asks, but will not be allowed to carry his/her cup with them throughout the day. This is done to prevent the sharing of germs. We're still at the age where an unattended sippy cup looks very inviting! :O) And thanks for not sending those extra messy foods like yogurt, jello and pudding. You never know when one of us might get the great brainstorm to finger paint our neighbor! :O) Please remember to take all of your child’s belongings home with you each day. You may want to check inside your child's lunch box prior to leaving to ensure that the correct accessories are going home with you.
