Welcome to Summerama Frozen Tundra!

We have quite the adventure this year and campers will be invited to join us as we travel through the Arctic! We are excited to share that we have added FIVE new camps this year including: High Flyin', Picture This!, Last Blast, Summerama Olympiad, and our flagship camp for this summer...Arctic Blast!

Summerama is an all-day program (10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) for children entering 2-6 grade in the fall. The cost of camp is $65.00 per week. Each week is special and exciting because you get to choose your own activities. So register for one, two or all of the weeks (extended care is available from 7:30 a.m. before camp and after camp until 5:30 p.m.)

Leading the way for KinderCamp and Tot-A-Rama, programs for our younger campers, will be Director Teresa Hubbard. This year, you can enjoy three weeks of KinderCamp (9:00 – 11:30 a.m.) and two weeks of Tot-A-Rama (9:30 – 11:30 a.m.). Whether it is buildilng igloos, dancing with penguins, or slurping an ice cold sno-kone, Summerama frozen Tundra is guaranteed to make your summer cool! Time is skating by, so sign up fast! We can hardly wait to see you!

Attention Parents:
Limited Entrollment Camps: Children cannot register for the same limited enrollment camp more than one time this summer. However, on Monday morning during registration, you may double check to see if a limited enrollment camp has openings. If your child has already participated in this limited enrollment camp once, but there is an opening on the Monday of that week of camp, they will be allowed to immediately switch their camp registration at the registration table.

Cancellation Policy: A $20.00 per week fee will be charged for any cancellation. No refunds will be given for cancellations less than 5 business days prior to the Monday of the week your child is registered for.

Kindercamp:
Kindercamp is for children who are entering Kindergarten or 1st grade in the fall. Each day will begin at Summerbranch at 9:00 a.m. with Teresa Hubbard, Kindercamp Director, and other leaders for fun, games, crafts, stories, and songs. On Friday, the kids will have water day and get snow-kones for a special treat! Kindercamp is available for three weeks this summer. The cost of Kindercamp is $30 per week and your registration MUST include your full payment in order for your child to be registered.

Tot-A-Rama:
Many youngsters are excited and can’t wait to be a part of the Summerama and Kindercamp fun! We are offering two weeks of camp for our youngest children. Each day, Tot-A-Rama meets from 9:30-11:30 a.m. inside the church. Fun stories, active games, action songs, and interesting crafts are all a part of the exciting week planned for children ages three to five. Teresa Hubbard, Tot-A-Rama Director, and other loving staff, are set to experience this week with your child. The registration fee is $25 per child, so sign up now – these camps will fill up fast. Children must be toilet trained and have turned three by December 2010. Limited enrollment, sign up early!

Attention Volunteers:
Summerama has been special to thousands of children over the years, but what happens to those kids when they grow up? Answer: they become part of the Summerama Volunteer Staff! If you're entering 7-12 grade you're invited to join us for one, two, three, or four weeks helping with the program. If you are interested, please contact the Children's Ministries office at 815-877-7046 or download an application and see training dates.

Extended Adventure:
Hey Moms and Dads, do you go to work early and get off late? Summerama offers a program just for your family’s schedule. Our Extended Adventure Program provides leaders to watch your children from 7:30-10:00 a.m. (including Kindercamp and Tot-A-Rama) and 3:30-5:30 p.m. (Summerama only) Monday–Friday. The cost is $5 per child or volunteer for each extended session they attend.

Early Bird Registration Special:
Take advantage of our early bird rate! Sign up between February 1–15 and you can buy one week and get the second week for half price! The Early Bird Special applies to the individual child, not family. This special excludes Kindercamp and Tot-A-Rama. Please send payment in full with registration form. All registration forms must be turned into the church office by the end of the business hours on February 15. This includes mailed registration forms.

Summerama Activities:

3 on 3 Basketball (Gr. 2-6)
The name says it all! This camp is about playing 3 on 3 Basketball all week! Campers will learn the fundamentals and then put them into practice in 3 on 3 games. Bring your A-game for the big 3 on 3 tournament to close out the week!

All-American Girls * $ (Gr. 2-6)
Love dolls and history? Join us as we explore the lives of four American Girl dolls, set in different periods of American history. This year will feature four different dolls from last year. Each day will be unique as girls experience a taste of these characters lives through crafts, games, dances, and food. We’ll conclude the week celebrating the most special American girl –YOU – with a special “spa” day!

Arctic Blast (Gr. 2-6)
The flagship camp for Summerama 2012, Arctic Blast campers will enjoy winter games...in the summer! Campers will have snowball wars, build snowmen with sno-kones, join in penguin races, and even make their own ice cream! Can you already feel the chill rolling down your spine?

Arts & Crafts * $ (Gr. 2-6)
Does the thought of glue, glitter, and paint get your creative juices flowing? Kids will get a chance to make all kinds of crafts throughout the week to take home. For those who love being creative, sign up for Arts and Crafts!

Adventure (Gr. 2-6)
Adventure is one of our most popular camps and is offered every week! Come prepared to have a different and exciting adventure every day. Of course, the highlight is Wednesday’s WET, WILD, WATER DAY!

ALL-BALL (Gr. 2-6)
Basketball, Dodgeball, Kickball and the list goes on! All your favorite ball games are played in this camp all week long. Be ready for a week of non-stop fun!

Construct Camp (Gr. 3-6)
What can you build using Legos, refrigerator boxes, and other materials? We are about to find out! We will also put our creativity to the test with our Junkyard Wars Competition! Kids that love to use their hands, be inventive, and work together will love Construct Camp.

Girls VBall/Bball (Gr. 2-6)
For girls who love volleyball, basketball, or both! We have combined these two high energy sports into one fast paced camp. Sign up and get ready for a slam dunking, high spiking week!

High Flyin’ * (Gr. 3-6)
Up, up, and away! High Flyin’ campers will spend the week making things fly! Whether it is making paper airplanes, decorating foam jets, or trying to stop their egg from breaking in the “Egg Drop Competition,” campers will be having tons of fun! And don’t forget, on Tuesday campers get to take a tour of the Rockford Airport!
  Last Blast (Gr. 2-6)
For our grand finale, we present, Last Blast! Held on the final week of Summerama, this camp is a collection of all the favorite Summerama Games from our 2012 camps. The best part is…the coolest games from eachcamp were voted on by the campers, for the campers!

Le Café Summerama International * $ (Gr. 2-6)1
Ready to become a master chef? This year, Le Café will prepare dishes from all around the world! Campers get to spend the week making all kinds of recipes from main courses to desserts. Every time campers make a dish, they will add it to their recipe book that they will take home at the end of the week.

Lights, Camera, Action! * (Gr. 4-6)
Ever wanted to be on the big screen? Here’s your chance! Campers will practice drama in fun ways while they prepare to write and film their own movie. We will all be part of the premiere during the Friday program. Don’t forget - you will receive a free copy of the video after the program.

Man Camp * $ (Gr. 4-6)
The greatest camp ever – for guys! Whether it is playing Dodgeball or eating beef jerky, boys will love this camp. Man Camp will go to Lazer Quest Tuesday afternoon to test their skills in a lazer tag battle. And we always end the day with a lesson and a challenge for all the boys about the true character of a gentleman.

Picture This! * $ (Gr. 4-6)
Get ready campers because this year at Summerama 2012 we are diving into the world of photography! Come and experience how to use your digital camera to take pictures of the world around you creatively with supplies you already have! Action shots, scavenger hunts, photo shoots and much much more. Campers will learn all kinds of imaginative ways to use their camera. At the end of the week they will take their best work home!
*Campers in Photography Camp must bring their own digital camera, labeled with their name, in order to participate (safe storage will
be provided for cameras).

Rock Band Camp Description * $$ (Gr 4-6)
Ready to Rock N’ Roll? Whether you are a beginner or an experienced musician, this is the camp for you if you want to sharpen your guitar skills (acoustic or electric)! Campers will have a blast becoming better guitar players and learning to work together under the tutoring of professional guitar instructor, Mark Reed. Musicians will get a chance to show off what they learned at the Friday Parent Show!
*There is no minimum proficiency to register for Rock Band. All students welcome!
*Students will need to bring their own guitars for Rock Band. If you need a guitar rental, Guzzardo’s music store is offering rentals for
Summerama campers at $30/week.
  Spirit Squad (Gr. 2-6)
A week filled with cheerleading, gymnastics, and dance combined! Watch out on Friday as the high flying Spirit Squad girls show off their routine that they work on throughout the week.

Summerama Institute of Fine Arts (Gr. 2-6)
Drama, music, dance, improv, puppets, and more…this camp introduces campers to a variety of fine arts. Led by staff that has experience in the fine arts, campers will have a great week learning a variety of activities that they will be able to put on display at the Friday Parent Show.

Summerama Olympiad (Gr. 2-6)
Summerama will be hosting its own Summerama Olympic Games! Campers will get to choose their country, wave their flag, and even participate in opening and closing ceremonies! Kids will compete in different Olympic Games but, in the spirit of the true Olympics, we will also focus on learning teamwork and good sportsmanship.

Table Games (Gr. 2-6)
Who says board games have to be boring? Monopoly, Chess, Scrabble, Sorry, Uno; we’ll play it in Table Games! You can even bring your own games to play with others. Expect a week filled with classic board games and some surprise games from your leaders!

Tour Games * $ (Gr. 4-6)
Love tennis, golf or biking? Campers will have fun playing sports that go on tour regularly. Campers will get a chance to enjoy learning the basics while also having a chance to compete. Twice this week campers will travel to the Forest City Tennis Center. Finally, don’t miss the end of the week “Tour-De-Rama” bike race!
*Campers will need to bring their own bike for Bike Day on Friday (campers must have their own helmets, knee, and elbow pads).
*Campers may bring their own tennis racket (not required).


Ultimate Game Show (Gr. 2-6)
Get ready to play all your favorite TV game shows! Come prepared for Family Feud, Deal or No Deal, Millionaire, and more. There will be a different game show every day. An ultimate week filled with obstacle courses, team competitions, and trivia challenges - “Come on down!”

Whodunnit? * (Gr. 4-6)
Campers will do scavenger hunts and problem-solving games throughout the week, requiring them to use both their brains AND brawn. Campers are in a race against time to solve the mystery and discover…WHODUNNIT?

World Cup Soccer (Gr. 2-6)
GOAAALLL!!! For first time players or soccer pros, this camp is for you! As with all of our sport camps, the emphasis is on playing the game. Learn and improve your skills with a whole week of fast paced soccer games. Pastor Bertie Holmgren will be bringing in his soccer expertise this year as he teaches the kids the fundamentals of the game. Campers will get to choose their favorite country and compete in the Summerama World Cup!
